Sociable Plovers

Finally caught up with the Sociable Plover flock at Urim. The 'usual' field wasn't the one that I'd seen them on in previous years, hence a bit of confusion and the delay. I saw a large flock of Lapwings circling over the fields and, as they resettled on the field, I picked out the Sociables. Distant but very distinctive.

Although they were associated with the Lapwings they kept themselves very much to themselves. Superb birds - a pleasure to see.

Back in Nir Oz this Sparrowhawk chased a Collared Dove into the chain link fence surrounding the tennis courts. They landed in a puff of feathers with the Sparrowhawk on top. Our dog ran over to investigate - causing the falcon to fly off into this tree - thus spoiling what could have been my photo of the year.
